Stromboli has achieved the Investors in People after an official assessment exercise. The IIP standard recognises Stromboli's adoption of best practices in business planning, human resource management and its ongoing investment in the skills of its employees. The assessment identified the following areas of strength and good practice:
- Well development plans, policies and processes in place to support the business in both the short and longer term
- A strong sense of team spirit, with staff working closely together to share ideas, skills and knowledge on a ongoing basis
- A ‘hands on’ Managing Director who actively supports and encourages his staff to improve their performance through development
- A written business plan with clear aims, objectives and milestones that underpin financial targets
- Regular discussions with staff about business plans and opportunities, which gives them a sense of ownership in the business and that what they are doing is valued and making a vital contribution
- Individual training plans with links to both individual performance and business objectives
- Staff development activities balance the requirements of the business with individual preferences
- A variety of development activities are considered and carefully planned and monitored
- Improvements in individual performance and business results can be directly related to the investment made in staff development
- A genuine desire to continue to improve the ways in which the company plans, communicates and develops its staff in order to achieve business goals
